#StickingTogetherWhileWeStayHome
A community message from Executive Director, Heidi Kern:
Greetings and blessings,
As we all know, things are changing quickly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is creating unique and unforeseen challenges for nonprofit leaders, the people and communities we serve. It is a scary time, both as we work to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe, and as we work to navigate weighty organizational questions about how we will proceed in the coming days, weeks and months. We are all in this together.
I cannot forecast what will happen, as none of us can. I can tell you that faith and prayer are God’s gifts and we all need to grasp onto those as He guides us through the next steps. Above all else, stay safe, stay calm and stay prayerful.
As we wait for guidance from our local, state and federal governments, along with Habitat International, I ask you to be patient and I offer the following information:
The Habitat office is temporarily closed to the public until further notice. You can leave a voice mail at 419-335-7000 or email at director@habitatfco.org. Please leave an email address for communication if possible.
Habitat does not provide emergency services. We provide affordable housing and repair options for long-term and permanent solutions. With that being said, Habitat is here to serve the Fulton County community. A list of community resources is provided here with ongoing updates.
Existing Partners:
· Partner Support services are offered via phone or email.
· Partner Selection services are temporarily halted and will resume as soon as possible.
· Mortgage payments: continue to make your mortgage payments as usual. The less upset of the normal system, the better for your economic future. This will be re-evaluated throughout the pandemic and any federally enacted mandates regarding mortgage payments will be followed. At the appropriate time, any homeowner with a financial hardship due to COVID-19 may request, in-writing, a review of their situation. Reviews will require proof of hardship, income and expense documentation. No decisions will be made by the Board of Directors until direction has been received from Habitat International and governing bodies in this area.
This is an increasingly difficult time for people, businesses, and organizations across the country and our community. We stand with you, and ask you to join Habitat with this prayer:
“May those of us who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake. May we who have no risk factors remember the most vulnerable. May we who settle in for quarantine at home remember those who have no home. As fear grips our country, let us choose love.”
Habitat has always chosen to embody these values, and the steps we are taking now are taken in this same vein. May you be healthy, may you be well, and may you and yours feel God’s love around you.
In Christ,
Heidi J. Kern
