What a Difference an Evening can Make!

The Difference Makers Expo, held on November 27th and sponsored by Everence Financial brought Northwest Ohioans together to celebrate the giving season.  Throughout the evening, 14 different area nonprofit organizations advocated for their individual missions and needs.  And Northwest Ohio responded with an overwhelming combined contribution of over $1.6 million, to be distributed to over 90 different charitable organizations in need of financial support.

Habitat for Humanity of Fulton County, Ohio was blessed by this event and those in attendance, who gave of themselves so someone else can have a chance at a better life.  $13,505.00 was contributed to Habitat directly that evening. These funds will be added to the current goal, which will be used to build a new house in Wauseon this year, providing affordable, safe housing to a local family living in poor conditions.

It takes over $70,000 to build just one house.  Habitat does not receive federal funding and relies on contributions, grants and fundraising to reach its goals.  Without donors, volunteers and sponsors, Habitat cannot do what it does:  provide strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter to area families who just need a hand up, not a hand out.

If you missed the Difference Makers Expo and would like to help support the local Habitat mission, you can also make a difference.  Donate here or contact the Habitat office to find out more about its needs.
