About Habitat for Humanity and what we do....
Steffan Hacker/Habitat for Humanity International
Habitatís mission is
to provide simple, decent and affordable housing for families who demonstrate
a need and desire to better their environments. Families must first meet
certain criteria to be accepted into the program; once accepted, families
participate in educational classes about budgeting, home ownership and saving,
and also invest numerous hours of labor (called sweat equity) into building
their home and other Habitat projects. Habitat homes are not free; every
Habitat family who finishes the program becomes a home owner and is required
to make monthly mortgage payments on zero interest home loans. Much of the
build supplies and labor are provided at either a discount or donation,
keeping the cost of the build low for the Habitat affiliate. Mortgage payments
are used to help build more Habitat homes. Without volunteers, local business
contributions and partner families, Habitat for Humanity would not be able to
help families reach their dreams of safe and affordable home ownership.
If you are interested in partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Fulton County, Ohio, as either a partner family, a volunteer or business contributor, or would like to make a donation, we would welcome your involvement.
